Another one bites the dust.

Kevin is the latest victim of the Denver Debacle.  We brought it home in our suitcase, just for him.  Sorry Daddy.

I call it the "Great Denver Debacle of 2010".

Let's just start at the beginning...

We thought it was a result of the Similac recall (link provided for those of you living under a rock) and subsequent introduction of generic formula.  My facebook status properly sums up the flight to Denver Ryn and I took to visit my grandparents, mom (Nana), and thousands of aunts, uncles and cousins: After 2.5 hours, a handful of Cheerios, and 8 ounces (precisely) of projectile vomit (think Exorcist), we landed in Denver. Huge apologies to the gentleman in seat 23B, we owe you big time. Like Starbucks. Or new pants.  Note to self: NEVER FLY WITHOUT KEVIN AGAIN.

Turns out it wasn't the recall that caused poor little Rynnie to vomit all over row 23.  It was the 24 hour flu.  I know this because I got it the very next day.  Endless, nauseating, wretching, sour, toilet-worshipping, lose 15 pounds, flu.  It was the worst case I've ever had.  And of course it happend on the very day my Grandma prepared dinner for 17 of my closest family members, who I haven't seen in years.  Have I mentioned what an AMAZING cook my grandma is??  Famous potato salad, brisket, a gorgeous salad, seven-layer dip, two types of cake, THREE KINDS OF ICE CREAM...  Worst day ever to catch a bug.  Somehow I managed to survive the day, and Ryn was happy playing with Nana and her second cousins.  Not sure if I'll ever be invited back to Denver however, as the flu victims now include my grandparents, two uncles, an aunt and two cousins.  Seriously.  Don't I feel like a jerk.

Despite our battle with the flu, we had a great, albeit quick, weekend in Denver and we hope to be back soon (healthy this time, and with Kevin of course).  Next time the adventures will take place away from the toilet.

Pic 1: Ready for take-off!  Approximately one hour from projectile vomit.

Pic 2: Green with the flu.  "Mom, is this how the entire weekend is going down?  You with a camera in my face?".

Pic 3: Everyone at pizza the first night.  Note Jen and her new man Joe.  We loved him!

Pic 4: Nana and Great Nana.

Pic 5: The next day.  Mom is now green with the flu.  Four generations of first-born ladies.

Pic 6: I met this great friend named Max.  He let me ride on him like a horse.

Pic 7: Nana and I getting ready for bed.

Pic 8: Some of my favorite toys at Great Nana's: paper and magazines from the recycling can and CDs.

Pic 9: After my destruction.

Pic 10: Another favorite toy at Great Nana's: the dishwasher.  (She climbed in here all by herself).

Pic 11: I also loved playing with some pots and pans and wooden spoons.

Library Friday

Every Friday we attend the Lake Oswego public library's "Baby Music Class".  It's a fun activity we look forward to every week.  The thing they don't tell you in the class description, however, is that it should be titled "Mommy Sweat Your Tush Off Chasing Baby Around Class".  Well at least in our case.  The other tots sit pleasantly on Mommy's lap, clapping along and taking it all in.  Camryn looks for any opportunity to take off and explore the massive crawl space that is the Children's Library.  Nevertheless, we have fun, and today was no exception.

Pic 1: This is my "back to school" outfit, courtesy of Auntie Kacy.  Totally appropriate for Library Friday.

Pic 2: A new skill she learned today at the library.  Scaling stairs; not typically on the music class agenda.  I counted 22 of them.  At the speed she conquered them, you'd think she's been climbing since she came out of womb.

Pic 3: Another new skill she picked up over the past few weeks: standing independantly.  So proud of herself and just seconds from learning how to walk.  God help us.

Pic 4: A gorgeous pic taken by my friend Jenn Pfaus (Oskar's mom) at a playdate today.  Smush smush.

Splish splash, Mommy needs a swift kick in the @ss.

It has been FOREVER!  But here are some silly pictures from the bath this evening.  Girl still loves to splash.

Pic 1: Look at her delicious lips!

Pic 2: I know exactly where these rolls curves come from.  Her "report card" from daycare today listed the following foods consumed: oatmeal, raisins, Cheerios, ham sandwich??, apples, oranges, yogurt, Goldfish, bananas and applesauce.

Video: Daddy taped the little ham sandwich at play in the tub.  Note as she shows you how she can wave hello and goodbye now!

First day of daycare was a success!

And the first thing the caregiver said to me upon pickup at five this evening was, "She sure hates getting her diaper changed!".   Yep.  What did I tell you all: she has easily mastered the WWF back flips.

But she did have a wonderful first day, complete with two naps, hours of playing with new toys and new friends (including a steamroller who answers to the name of James), and a turkey sandwich.  Little petunia passed out by eight tonight; I'd call that a success (at least in this nocturnal household).

Enjoying the last few minutes of summer.

Seriously, I should be fired from this blogging gig.  The days between posts increase as fast as little miss Rynnie downs fistfulls of Cheerios.  Here is a recap of our week:

Pics 1 and 2: Kev and I took a little trip down to Provo, Utah, to watch the UW Huskies play amuse the BYU Cougars.  Never thought I'd actually cheer against the Cougars!  Despite the loss, we had a fantastic time golfing and soaking up the dry desert sun.  Huge thanks to Grandma K and Grandpa J for watching Camryn.

Pic 3: Cool nights = the return of footsie pajamas!  Don't worry little one, you'll grow into them.

Pic 4: Watching Mommy's Futsal game.  Go Stars!

Pic 5: Saturday we enjoyed a picnic with Jenn and Oskar.  They are in love.  Jenn had to run inside and grab their dog's kennel fence so we could corral miss monkey Schjei.  Jenn is a professional photographer, and she took this gorgeous shot.

Pics 6 and 7: "Okay Oz, I think we can escape if we climb over this fence".

Pic 8: "No auntie Jenn, I swear I wasn't trying to escape with Oz!".
Pic 9: Another beautiful pic taken by Jenn.  Camryn had just indulged in a few "salt and pepper" chips.  Just a bit too spicy for her liking.

Pic 10: Saturday we also got a new kitty cat keyboard.  She LOVES this.
Pic 11: Sunday we went to the park for August's first birthday party.  Enjoying the swings in my party dress.

Pic 12: Lana and I learning how to mow the lawn.

Pics 13 and 14: The spontaneous fountains at the park.  Ryn was the only baby brave enough to test out the center.

Pic 15: One tired baby.

Well, we have entered the parenting stage I like to call "Diaper Change Wars".  I hope this is just a temporary phase, like her dislike of peas, or multiple nighttime wakings, but I fear it's just the beginning.  She's been rolling while being changed or dressed for a few months now, but this is extreme, full-strength resistance.  Last night it took both Kevin and I to get her all set for bed, and even then she ended up streaking down the hall sans diaper after we gave up the fight.  But she's still cute, and here is proof of that.

Pic 1: Wants to be just like Mommy and Daddy.  Starting her early.  We saw these at Dick's Sporting Goods last night and had to pose her next to them.  Someday this will be blown up on a cake at her high school graduation party as she sets forth on a college golf scholarship...
